Electrical Testing & Service
Evaluate the Circuit Before Making the Next Decision.
Polar 32 provides electrical service and megohmmeter insulation-resistance testing when the condition of wiring or electrical circuits needs to be evaluated. Testing can be used as part of troubleshooting, inspection support, maintenance and documented electrical condition evaluations.
01
Megohmmeter / Insulation Resistance Testing
High-resistance electrical testing used to evaluate the condition of conductor and circuit insulation. Test results are measured and documented to help identify insulation deterioration or abnormal leakage paths.
02
Electrical Troubleshooting & Repair
Diagnostic electrical service for circuits, wiring and equipment. Polar 32 evaluates the problem, identifies the affected area and determines the appropriate repair or next step.
03
Inspection & Documentation Support
Electrical testing and recorded findings that may be used as part of a property inspection, insurance-related evaluation, repair decision or return-to-service process.
04
Circuit & Wiring Evaluation
Evaluation of electrical circuits when wiring condition is uncertain, suspected damage is present or additional testing is needed before a circuit is placed back into service.
Megohmmeter Testing
What Does an Insulation Resistance Test Evaluate?
A megohmmeter applies a controlled DC test voltage to an isolated, de-energized circuit and measures the resistance of the insulation in megohms. The resulting measurements help evaluate insulation condition beyond what can be determined by a basic continuity check alone.
Conductor Insulation Condition
Helps evaluate whether insulation resistance is consistent with acceptable circuit condition or whether further investigation is needed.
Leakage Paths to Ground
Testing can identify abnormally low insulation resistance between conductors and ground.
Possible Insulation Deterioration
Low or abnormal readings can indicate conditions that require further electrical investigation before the circuit is returned to service.
Documented Test Results
Measurements can be recorded by circuit to provide a clearer record of the testing performed and the results obtained.
INSPECTION SUPPORT
Electrical Testing With Documentation
When electrical condition must be evaluated and documented, Polar 32 can perform circuit testing and record the measurements and findings. This can provide useful technical information for property owners, businesses, electricians, inspectors and insurance-related evaluations.
Electrical Testing Questions
Common questions about megohmmeter and insulation-resistance testing.
What is a megohmmeter test?
A megohmmeter test measures very high electrical resistance to evaluate insulation condition in wiring, cables and other electrical components. It is commonly referred to as insulation-resistance testing.
Why would an electrical circuit need insulation-resistance testing?
Testing may be appropriate when wiring condition is uncertain, a circuit is being evaluated for possible insulation damage, troubleshooting requires more information, or documented test results are needed as part of an inspection or repair process.
Can megohmmeter testing be documented by circuit?
Yes. When included in the service scope, Polar 32 can record the circuits tested and the measured insulation-resistance results to provide a professional record of the testing performed.
Does megohmmeter testing replace an electrical inspection?
No. Insulation-resistance testing provides electrical test data and can support an inspection or condition evaluation, but it does not replace any inspection, permit, certification or approval required by the authority having jurisdiction.
